Victoria’s secret is not just about the lingerie but is also well known for the models and now their famous hairstyles on the runway; we refer to as “Victoria’s secret hair”
Gisele Bunchen has been every hairstylists dream muse and inspiration and mine personally as well. I cant wait to see what they have in store for us this year.
For those of you who don’t know who Sam McKnight is, let me give you a little briefing. He is the pioneer behind many of the cover looks you find on Vougue and Harpers Bazzar, working with supermodels and celebrities since the 70’s. London Native and Global Ambassador for Pantene. He is one of the most admired and sought after hairstylist of all time.
Here is his new creation for next season coming out of London’s Fashion Week…
Londo Fashion week
Here’s how to get the look- Firstly you need to work some moose through freshly washed hair, rough dry it and create a straight deep side parting – spray and hold with hair spray and curling tongs to roll the hair to the roots securing the sections with a clip.
Once all the hair is tonged, remove the clips and brush out the curls. Then back comb sections of the hair to create that mega volume and texture. The trickiest part might be completely the look, Sam says ‘Tie hair with a slim hair band in a pony tail two inches from the ends and using the hairnet filled with hair extensions and shaped into a log, roll up the ends of the hair under and pin into place. Be careful not to flatten hair as this style is intended to look angular and texturised.’
I have heard about this “Keratin Complex treatment” from all my friends with long hair so I finally did my own research to find out what it’s all about. From what I understand it is basically a relaxer that is not damaging to the hair but in fact very healing providing natural keratin protein, which rebuilds, restores and rejuvenates all types of hair. The difference is most relaxers are typically for very coarse ethnic hair but the Keratin can be and is used on all types.
It was created in 2007 by renowned stylist and salon owner Peter Coppola and has since taken the market by storm.
Their revolutionary smoothing system infuses Keratin deep into the hair cuticle, eliminating up to ninety-five percent of frizz and curl and leaving the hair smooth, shiny and luxurious. Results typically last 3 to 5 months depending on hair type.
Their client testimonials refer to Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy as “life changing.” It rejuvenates and revitalizes the hair, giving it a softer, silkier feel that everyone raves about.
I am excited to try this product since I live in Florida with all the humidity, from my research it should cost anywhere from 2-300$ depending on the length of your hair
A $24,000 haircut — perhaps the most expensive ever — was given to the Sultan of Brunei in August. The main cost was the airfare of London barber Ken Modestou to Southeast Asia. Modestou’s usual fee, when the customer comes to him, is about $45.
With even more twists, turns and flirtatious misbehavior than its shocking predecessor, this sexy sequel picks up two years after styleoholic maniacs invaded opportune Atlantans in a private Buckhead residence. Now a fresh crop of Orlando trendsetters on a funky and strange mission, will find themselves up against the same style-thirsty freaks. However, this time the party isn’t just looking for a quick bite- it needs the most psychotically-chic guests to continue its bloodline!

In the documentary “Good Hair,” comedian Chris Rock casts a critical and humorous eye on the Black hair-care business and explores the historical, political and social issues that play into the relationship between African-American women and their hair.
The film follows Rock as he journeys from New York to Atlanta, Dallas, Birmingham, Los Angeles and even India to find the finer points of the story. Along the way, he encounters hair-care professionals, beauty and barbershop patrons and celebrities including Raven Symoné, Ice-T, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Nia Long and Salt-N-Pepa, all of whom offer their hair-raising and candid perspectives.
Meanwhile, on the India trip, Rock visits a Hindu temple to witness a religious hair-sacrificing ceremony called “tonsuring.” A highly-prized commodity, human hair is one of the country’s largest exports, and each year more than 10 million Indians sacrifice hair to deity.
After the hair is shorn, it is processed and sold to international dealers — but what cut religious leaders and government officials receive is something audiences are left to ponder.
“They were very gracious to let us film at the temple, but we had to get out of their fast,” joked Rock when quizzed last week for more detail.
As the film points out, extensions are a big part of the business — it is estimated that hair weaves make up about 65 percent of the $9 billion revenue driven annually by Black hair care. And depending on the length, texture and type (synthetic or human), it can cost anywhere from $400 to more than $4,000.
On camera, video vixen Melyssa Ford, with a hint of embarrassment, admits she has spent around $18,000 in a year on weaves.
“That was the biggest shocker for me,” said Rock, while promoting the film at a Beverly Hills hotel.
“The money being spent is big and another thing we found out is the effect this can have on relationships. I mean it’s like dating somebody with a drug habit. Imagine if a woman was dating a guy and he spent almost $10,000 on baseball cards. It probably wouldn’t work.”
Do you ever wonder where your “hair extension hair” comes from. Well, I was recently enlightened from the Oprah show when Chris Rock was on talking about his new film “Good Hair” that the majority of our hair extension hair that we get in Hollywood and even from China actually comes from a Hindu Temple in India “Tirupati” where woman go to sacrifice their hair as an offering and to surrender the ego. I love the Hindu religion and respect it very much but there is something un pure about this process to me. Most of these woman have no idea that their hair will be sold for thousands of dollars to the US.
Temple in India
I have dabbled with hair extensions and I always knew they came from India but was curious if all the Indian Woman seem to have their long hair where is this hair coming from, I guess it is much better than my fear that they came from dead bodies.
I read an article from E news Woman and here is a little from it:
“Every year hair worth about $136 million is shipped from India, one of the largest exporters of human hair, to factories in China. There, Chinese hair is mixed with Indian hair to make wigs and hair extensions for Western markets.
Exporters say buyers from countries such as the United States pay $1.50 for a strand of hair that expensive beauty salons may then weave into extensions or wigs that can sell for between $1,500 and $3,000. Exporters say that Hollywood is one of the biggest consumers of human hair.
Every year, over 9 million devotees stand in serpentine queues to pay obeisance to its deity and have their heads shorn to fulfill a vow or pledge. After the hair is collected, the temple stores it in 14 steel containers, with male and female hair kept separate. Once the warehouse is stocked, auction notices are advertised in four languages, all south Indian, in three popular newspapers and on the temple’s official Web site.
In the most recent financial year the temple sold over 3 million kilos of hair for about $1 million.
Exporters also buy hair from salons and rag-pickers. In the village of Bhagyanagar, Karnataka, about 2,000 families depend on the hair they collect from garbage dumps.
Gupta, the hair exporter, said that he distributes plastic bags to women in the local village near his factory in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, to keep outside their huts. Every time they comb their hair, those that fall are collected in the bag. After a week, a broker will collect these bags and pay the women a small sum.”

My Goodness….we are using the leftover hair from the hair brush, hair from dumpsters and sacrificed hair! This is crazy

I tend to worry more about what I put into my body than what goes on the outside. When in fact the chemicals found in lotions, makeup and hair dyes are something I need to consider when using these products on my body. Recently I have been using the eyelash extensions from “Xtreme Lashes” and I began to wonder how safe this new affection with eyelash extensions really was and was it worth any risks involved?
After researching, I was able to find one of the ingredient’s in the adhesive, “formaldehyde” linked to cancer.1.What is formaldehyde?
Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling gas. It is an important industrial chemical used to manufacture building materials and to produce many household products. It is used in pressed wood products such as particleboard, plywood, and fiberboard, glues and adhesives, permanent press fabrics, paper product coatings, and certain insulation materials. In addition, formaldehyde is commonly used as an industrial fungicide, germicide, and disinfectant, and as a preservative in mortuaries and medical laboratories.
In my research I was able to find that “Xtreme Lashes” adhesive’s carry 0.001% formaldehyde which is an insignificant amount.Tthe primary ingredient in Extreme lashes adhesives is the same ingredient used by plastic surgeons in the US to close skin wounds without stitches. In comparison “Nova Lash” http://www.novalash.com/index.html is the only American made pharmaceutical grade extension developed by a team of chemists and physicians. Nova Lash claims that their adhesives are certified and tested, pharmaceutical grade, doctor-formulated and made in the USA.
In conclusion it seems both Xtreme lashes and Nova Lash’s adhesive’s are safe to use due to the extreme low levels of Formaldehyde.
Now that summer is upon us we should start thinking of ways to protect
our hair. Sun and chlorine exposure are your worst Enemies. With our UV rays becoming more intense year after year we have to be more cautious of our hair and skin.Sun damage is the # 1 factor leading to aging, dehydration and
discoloring of your hair and skin. Although studies have found that the
sun is good for the body and soul, no more than 15 min per day is
recommended. Second is chlorine, prior to entering a pool or the ocean dampen your hair and spray a small amount of leave in conditioner with a
sunscreen and a low pH (to close the cuticle) this will help protect the
hair preventing harsh elements from entering it. Once you are out of the water,
rinse your hair with fresh water for 3 to 5 min, use a demineralizing
shampoo and conditioner and then follow it up with your leave in
conditioner. This will close the cuticle layer of your hair shaft and
stabilize any free radicals. Demineralizing treatments are recommended
to remove minerals and discoloration such as green in the hair from
pools and orange from well water, they stabilize the hair after being
exposed to harsh elements. Consult your stylist on demineralizing
products and treatments that are offered at the salon. Have a happy
Healthy Summer.

Thank you Von Miller photography 985.381.1928 for these wonderful photos! Xtreme lashes are a painless procedure where lashes are individually placed to your existing lashes and last a few months oppose to the falsys that last maybe two days. There is no mascara needed and they look completely natural. Our favorite Xtreme gal is Kit Kerwin and she can be reached at 352.978.4400

Hair truly is very important and is always the common denominator among woman. Everywhere I go I end up having conversations about hair usually because someone else brings it up. I end up pulling out my hair extensions in the bathroom and giving lessons on how to put them in and where to buy them. I have cards and numbers of all my favorite stylist and pass them out regularly. We want Videohairstyles.com to be a place where you can learn something, share ideas and talk all about HAIR. I posted these pictures of me with all the different colors to show the drastic difference a color and style can do to your look, your attitude and others perceptions. Each will have their own opinion but will draw a completely different image to my personality from my hair, when in fact I am the same person as a blonde than I am as a brunette with bangs and that is in my opinion the power of hair. Tiana Griego Creative Director for Videohairstyles.com
I started this website around 2 years ago when my friend Reinaldo Figuero approached me about the enormous popularity on the internet with the term “HAIR” he said he had done some research and their was nothing on the internet that had videos to show how to get different “hairstyles” there were only pictures so he asked me to partner up with him to create a website where people can have access of videos to get different hairstyles.
Throughout the first year it was difficult to get the project started with little budget, I asked favors form people I knew, thankfully I had been working as a makeup artists and had many contacts that were glad to help out without charging me. I saw great visions and possibilities and continually had dreams about the growth of the website and it eventually became my passion. I decided to bring on more partners with the hopes that they would have the same ambition and pour their heart’s and soul’s into the project just as I did. Through trials and errors I have learned and grown a lot and my heart has taken the original concept in a different direction.Inspired by Bono’s project red http://www.joinred.com/ I saw on Oprah the amount of money he brought to helping Aids in Africa by donating the majority of the sale of “Red” products from such companies as “Apple”, “Emporio Armani” and “Gap” and I saw the possibilities of doing the same with videohairstyles.com. My goal is to work with all different types of stylists throughout the world and eventually build up a huge library of “hairstyle” videos, sell them as pod cast’s and donate all the profits to different organizations. The consumer will be able to choose which organization he/she wishes to donate to.
“People acting together as a group can accomplish things which no individual acting alone could ever hope to bring about”. Franklin D Roosevelt
As if hair Extensions are not enough I have been introduced and fallen in love with Xtreme’s eyelash extensions. The painless procedure takes around 2 to 3 hours to put on a full set and will give you beautiful long lashes for the next few months, fill them every few weeks and you will be good to go!
I love them because you don’t have to wear mascara; they are perfect for the summer. They look natural because they are individually placed onto each lash oppose to the eyelash strip that sometimes starts to fall half way off after a long night, Xtreme’s lashes make you look like you were born with this luscious gift.We have 2 new videos coming out of the eyelash extension procedure; make sure to subscribe to our feed so you can be alerted of updates.
Our favorite Xtreme lash girl is Kit Kerwin 352.978.4400 for appointment

We are excited to be featuring “Dream Hair” coming in the next couple of weeks. The “Dream Hair” series was a little bit different than the hairstyle videos we shot with Studio Girault because this one took us from start to finish on how to get the hair of your dreams or “my” dreams should I say.People are always asking me about my hair and how I get my hair to look the way it does so I drastically changed the color and length and showed step by step how to have the hair of your dreams.JR (Studio Girault) took my hair through a healing process of deep conditioning 3 times a week to bring the hair back to health to prepare the hair for color and highlight, he used a technique in highlighting called “Baliage” that was inspired by Gisele Bundchen, we showed how to make hair extension clips, how to layer the clips to match your hair and how to style your hair with the hair extensions. We had our in house musician “David Lawrence” create some beautiful music for the series and we look forward to showing it to you and hearing your responses. We really wanted to show that anyone with any length or color can have the hair of their dreams.Tiana Griego Creative Director Videohairstyles.com
Off the subject of hair for a moment let’s talk about my next favorite thing…Makeup! With my background being in makeup I can certainly say that it is almost or just as important as hair to complete your look. We met Kit Kerwin at Blush salon and I immediately forgot all about hair (just for a moment) and became like a woman in a shoe store in New York city and found myself in love with all her magical beautifying tools. Kit introduced us to Xtreme lashes which are the newest trend in Hollywood worn by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Rebecca Romijn and Nicolette Sheridan. It is a painless procedure that takes about two hours where she carefully places individual lashes to your existing lashes, After seeing the model before and after I had to get some for myself and let me tell you its day 2 and I am addicted , I will definitely be back for my fill. Kit made it very comfortable for me as she knew I was claustrophobic but I just closed my eyes and went to sleep. I am forever changed now and can’t live without my eyelash extensions.
Awe! The power of hair!We just finished up another successful shoot and my saying “Hair is everything” still stands true.We had some good tears and some scared tears but it just goes to show you the power of hair.I want to encourage people to not be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to your hair and don’t be afraid to make a change and try something new.Working with Joe Lombardo of Blush salon Orlando was a little different for me because Joe draws his inspiration from the models and energy around him so I didn’t know what we were doing until the day of the shoot.I watched as we filmed the videos for the first time just as everyone else and I knew that people are going to love it because it was inventive, stylish and sexy!Stay tuned for the videos and DVD scheduled to release this spring. Tiana Griego
We want to introduce you to Joe Lombardo, he is the creative stylists behind our Spring/Summer trend release.Joe has currently partnered with Blush salon Orlando Fl because they share the same vision.Joe has been working with hair for over 15 years and helped set the trends with such companies as Revlon and let me tell you it certainly shows. He is a true artist inspired by the energy around him. While preparing for the shoot he told me the concept just came to him the night before, he said “the hair is sweeping from one side of the face to the other and the color is light on the top and darker on the bottom but it flows together nicely”Inspired by pro wakeboarders and cheerleaders as our models this look will be perfect for the summer. Tiana Griego
People always ask me how long it takes to do my hair everyday.I say its all about product and preparation because I don’t do my hair everyday; I do my hair once every 3 days.As long as you prep your hair the night before and use a good product that will hold the hair and not make it greasy ( I suggest Profound)you will not need to be doing much work just minor touch ups.Make sure you are always starting with a clean healthy canvas, profound makes an excellent reconstructor that will whip your hair into shape and they also make a great shampoo and conditioner, all in all you can’t go wrong with this line which was introduced to us by Studio Girault and we LOVE IT!
