For the past week I have been reading about this hairstyle hoopla going on in Iran. Here is my opinion, first of all…Iran used to be one of the most sophisticated fashionable city’s around next to Paris and New York. They account for 60% of all the nose job operations in the entire world and wear their bandages proudly sometimes even up to a year after the operation. This is a country demonstrably proud of their looks and their money. It wasnt until the 80s when “you know who” dictated that everyone go back to the old fashioned way of living. I feel bad for anyone that lives there having to worry about getting fined or even sent to jail for wearing a “certain hairstyle” or if your husband dies and you become a widow and dare you have a relationship with another…need I say “Man” you might be sentenced to “death” by form of torture. How barbaric and what an unrealistic way of life to follow. I pray for the woman of that country and my heart goes out to Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani and her family who will thankfully not be stoned to death due to the influence of the rest of the world crying out for her dignity. As much as I think we should all ban the “mullet” just as Iran did…on a realistic and serious note…everyone should have their freedom to rock which ever hairstyle they want and more importantly, no matter what the crime…everyone deserves their dignity. As much as this country and government of the united States frustrates me it is story’s like these that make me proud to be an American knowing that if I want to walk down Sunset blvd in my towell with my hair in a pink mohawk…by god I can do it
